Gina's Story May 2010 |
Hi my name is Gina and I am 20 years old. I was born in Colombia. In July of 2009 I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) here in Ontario. It was a big shock for me, my family and my friends since I had always been such a healthy person. I started chemotherapy right away along with spinal taps, cranial radiation as well as weekly oral and intravenous chemotherapy sessions. Since my progress has been excellent, I am thankful to be so blessed with having responded so well to my treatments that I no longer need a bone marrow transplant. However many people out there are not as lucky as me and do require a compatible donor as quickly as possible. This unfortunate disease can affect anyone and this is why I urge you to please register as a bone marrow donor if you are able, because someone may receive the gift of another fresh start to life...and it will be all because of you. Thank you. |

What if you could be the needle in the haystack that someone desperately needs ?
